I wake up at 5:00AM to Rennaisance getting ready to leave. He’s taking the city bus to the greyhound bus stop and then a 4ish hour bus ride home to San Diego. Adios buddy, I’ll see ya on the other side of the Sierras.

I fumble around with my phone and get my dopamine fix for the day on Instagram. At 6:30AM I hit the continental breakfast, I walk in and see Dallas and Wolf there. Wolf is heading home to Washington to burn time before entering the Sierras. Dallas is pushing north to Kennedy Meadows like the rest of us. We’ll probably have to burn time there instead.
We chat and eat breakfast, Wolf offers me a ride to do some slack packing later. It’s raining today so I’m 50/50 on it. I eat up and then head back to the room to shower and get dressed.

I start walking to the post office and it’s a sea of fog. You can’t see more than 50 feet in front of you in some places. As I get halfway there I decide to turn back. There’s one area I need to use the bike lane across the 4 leaf over the highway. I was concerned about how thick the fog was. This was sketchier than being on trail. Cars can’t see me and people drive like shit here.

After turning around and walking back towards the hotel I stop at the German bakery near the VFW. I grab 2 apple pies, a cinnamon roll, and 2 sugar cookies. I finish the short walk back and tell Seven I struck out on the post office but crushed the bakery. I got him a pie and a sugar cookie as well. I’ll go back to the post office later when it’s safer.

I sit on the bed and absolutely crush my baked goods and watch some Seinfeld on TV. The weather looks a little lighter out as the sun burns off the haze so I head back out after a few hours and grab my package. My sister sent me some birthday gifts and snacks. Thank you Danielle. Me Seven and Tardy will all eat these snacks and I gave them both a pair of alpaca socks to lounge in. Again my mentality on trail is sharing is caring.

On the way back I stopped at the liquor store to change some cash in. I need 4$ in quarters to do laundry when I get back, while I am there I grab some drinks, chips and get ID’d by the cashier. I laugh as I look homeless AF right now and well over 21 with a full beard. She tells me it’s a compliment. Thanks.
After getting fresh clean clothes I head off to Walmart to grab enough food and supplies to get me to Kennedy Meadows. I laugh while I’m there because of the convo Stealthy and I had, he wasn’t kidding. He cleaned Walmart out of pulled pork packets. Protip those packets and some Kings Hawaiian bread packed out on trail. Yeah buddy.

Sevens resupplies always look so clean when we get home. I let him go first so I could get new ideas. I still haven’t figured out how to pack for 8 days of food. I guess I’m more of a 4-5 day guy.

On the way back from Walmart I stop at Luna Mexicana to grab a 4 pack of tacos for the walk and then head home for the night. I walk in and Tardys got his stuff out. His resupplies are always about calorie numbers. He packed out 39 cookies from a McDonald’s that time.

Before packing up my stuff I sit in the hot tub for a few and then retire to our room for the night. Seven has us watching season 1 episode 3 of Heroes tonight. Never heard of it but I’ll do one. I had a major crush on Hayden Penneterie as a kid. Hoping to get a full night of sleep and get back out on trail in the morning. Greenhorns moms in town as he lives local, she’s going to give us a ride back to trail at 8:30 AM.
